City Stays

Luxury hotels, boutique accommodation, restaurants, day tours & great guides

City Stays ~ Wilderness Australia

In each of Australia’s major cities Wilderness Australia has hand picked a selection of luxury hotels, boutique accommodation, exceptional day tours and friendly, knowledgeable guides.  Our goal is to make your city stay as rewarding and as personal as your time ‘on safari’.

In Sydney we recommend The Park Hyatt for stunning harbour views and contemporary décor.  The more elegant Observatory Hotel is smaller and more intimate; the staff so attentive you will wonder if you are the only guest in-residence.  There are other water-side gems too; Quay Grand for apartment style accommodation, Blue Hotel and Sebel Pier One are other favourites with water views and four star price-tags.

While you are in our home-town let us arrange some truly memorable events – behind the scenes at the Opera House, or perhaps tickets to a performance; a sea-plane flight to a hidden restaurant or a day trip to the Hunter Valley; private city touring can be tailored to your interests and if you are travelling with children this is a city that will thrill the whole family!  One of Wilderness Australia’s most unique city offerings is known as “Catch & Cook”.  Spend the morning on the harbour with a fishing guide and together take your catch ashore where one of the world’s best chefs will prepare your very own ‘catch of the day’.

Hobart is home to Australia’s first true art hotel – The Henry Jones is located in a row of historic warehouses and a former jam factory.  All have been transformed into an enthralling first class hotel showcasing the work of Tasmania’s finest visual and performing artists.  The Islington Hotel is also highly recommend - a small luxury hotel with a long history and a large and delightful garden that affords great views of Mount Wellington.

In Darwin there are some excellent four star hotel options although a family or small group might prefer a private residence.  Mandalay is built in traditional colonial style with stone walls and large timber balconies that support a wide corrugated roof, the house is one of four in a private compound facing Darwin Harbour on the Esplanade.

From Perth to Melbourne with Adelaide in between, from Hobart to Brisbane and regional centres such as Cairns and Broome – we recommend, from first hand experience, the best accommodation options and then add the ingredients that will guarantee a truly memorable stay.Henry Jones Art HotelGuest Room at The Islington
