Convivial company & paddock to plate - Tasmania
Rodney Dunn is our specialist food guide in Tasmania and is a fabulous fellow whose passion for the gourmet food & drink industry has seen him return to his rural roots to set up his own business The Agrarian Kitchen.
Rodney Dunn grew up on a farm in rural New South Wales. A chef apprenticeship eventually led him to Sydney where he worked under Tetsuya Wakuda at his esteemed restaurant, Tetsuya’s. After completing his chef apprenticeship Rodney moved into food media developing recipes for most of Australia’s food magazines, working as a Food Researcher for the Better Homes and Gardens television program and authored a cookbook entitled Roasting. For the past three years he has been Food Editor for Australian Gourmet Traveller magazine where he is currently Contributing Food Editor.
The Agrarian Kitchen is set in the surrounds of an 1887 schoolhouse and offers a unique hands-on paddock to plate experience. A full day of interactive touring and classes may include visits to local food, beer and wine producers. You might collect vegetables from the garden or fruit from the orchard and later in the day prepare and share a convivial feast. Private touring is of course tailor made to suit your cooking and food interests.
